Pilates is a series of exercises that focus on posture, strength, muscle tone, balance and flexibility. The main emphasis is on the stabilising muscles of the back and core whist working with controlled breathing. The concentration and control of each exercise and breath is also a fabulous way to relax and focus the mind.
Pilates can be done on a mat with your own body weight to provide resistance or with the addition of small equipment such as stability balls, bands and Pilates rings.
