Lorraine worked with me after my lumbar surgery around 5 years ago. She was friendly, approachable and extremely knowledgeable. Working with Lorraine was the very best introduction to Pilates I could have had, and I’m so grateful I had someone with Lorraine's expertise to help me. I’ve since gone on to practice daily Yoga & Handstands, and I’m training to be a Yoga Teacher. The strong foundations for this new journey were laid in those first few months with Lorraine, working with care and attention to detail to aid the physical recovery, and an understanding & empathy for the emotional one too.

Struggling with time to attend regular classes due to work, family life and training for an Ironman, I subscribed to the online sessions with Lorraine Carey.
I have also suffered with lower back issues and my flexibility has always been poor so started with the programmes. I found them testing but ever so beneficial. I used to suffer a range of joint and muscular injuries but after starting Pilates I never had any!
Lorraine is an excellent teacher, is good fun and makes all the sessions personal somehow. I would highly recommend the sessions to anyone!

Not many blokes appear to appreciate what Pilates can do for them. I'm 6'4" tall, weigh nearly 20stone and am 61 yrs young. I used to get lower back stiffness and have had torn knee ligaments in the past. Since I started Pilates with lovely Lorraine 4 yrs ago all these problems are reduced and I'm much more comfortable on my motorbike over long distances due to my improved core strength and posture. I hated PE at school and get far too sweaty doing anything aerobic so this suits me just fine.

I have been working with Lorraine both online and face to face for 2 years. Unfortunately, I was paralysed from the waist down in 2015 due to a cycling accident so I am now fighting to regain movement and function. Pilates for Real People has made a huge difference in my posture, strength and balance which has now enabled me to walk with sticks and be able to cycle once again. The relaxation sessions and exercises I perform are highly beneficial for me. Lorraine is fabulous to work with and adapts her exercises when necessary to get round my disabilities which helps my paralysed muscles activate. Lorraine has been a true inspiration to me. Her infectious enthusiasm, her courage, belief in her own ability as well as others, her determination to succeed and overcome, her motivation, also how she makes you feel you’re her only client when you know she has a large following.
As a Personal Trainer Lorraine pushed me to work much harder than I would have, if left to training alone. She understood the pressures I was under at work and helped me concentrate on the exercise rather than what was troubling me.
When we discussed my future career in the fitness industry, it was Lorraine who suggested I would make a good Pilates teacher. I have to admit I was doubtful that this was the right direction. However, her confidence motivated me to go ahead and see this as an opportunity to change my future.
3 years on and I am a qualified Pilates Instructor, growing my business to fit around my family life. I feel so lucky to have been given the chance to re-write my future.
The participants in my groups have become my friends and I feel a connection with each and every one of them. I love what I do and what I hope to do throughout my retirement. I am blessed and owe this to Lorraine.

Eight years ago I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hip. I joined Lorraine’s Pilates class to maintain the level of mobility I had. Six months later I received my hip replacement and the consultant gave me permission to return to the class two months after the operation.
Lorraine’s class makes a huge difference to my physical fitness and therefore my quality of life. She has a friendly, bubbly personality and makes everyone feel welcome. She explains each exercise very clearly and gives a demonstration. She gives us the option of three levels of difficulty so we can work at our own pace. If necessary she will give us an alternative too.
I have been able to build up my core strength and flexibility and can comfortably work at the medium level. I have realised that I benefit from doing 15 minutes in a morning between her sessions. Lorraine’s class has become an essential part of my life for the improvement it gives to my physical well-being. I can certainly recommend it.

I first met Lorraine in 2011, and what a blessing it was.
Having had two lots of spinal surgery I had returned to the gym to start the long journey to recovery. Lorraine had just set up an introduction to Pilates class and within the first five minutes I knew I’d made the right choice to sign up.
Lorraine’s in depth knowledge of recovery fitness alongside her empathy and bubbly personality were the perfect combination and I very soon made progress and regained strength. I went on to have regular one to one sessions with Lorraine and as we worked more closely she has a fantastic ability to challenge me in the right way. This is always a partnership. I always feel Lorraine is as invested in my progress as I am and gives me that nudge we all need at the right moment to help me achieve my goals.

I started Pilates years ago to help keep my back in check and the benefits of doing classes with Lorraine were noticeable from the start. She has helped me with core muscle strengthening, stretching, balance and flexibility and it’s become an integral part of my self care and mindfulness routine. The online platform means I can do this around my life, whether I’m at home or away or working but it’s also suitable however things inevitably change year on year (back injury, pregnancy, new fitness goals, weight loss etc.!) She is always on hand to answer my questions about the classes and suitability of some of the exercises based on injuries I have too. And the dogs are an awesome bonus too!
Concept of online classes
Pilates for Real People is an awesome way to have your lesson around your personal work/life routine, and Lorraine is a great teacher! It works for me as I can do the session literally anywhere, any time of the day, and I get to choose my area of focus each time too. So much better than going to the gym! The classes remove all the barriers I can think of for why I may miss a class, such as forgetting to book each week or rushing through traffic and means I never have to go without my Pilates fix again!

If you are considering signing up, please just do it, it is so easy to do and the convenience of being able to do the classes wherever and whenever you choose is just perfect. If you are a beginner, experienced or somewhere in between Lorraine makes sure everyone is well catered for. All you need to do is sign up, access your video library and you can have your own personal pilates class wherever you are. Lorraine you are an inspiration.
